Getting Started

Welcome to TaskMaster! This guide will help you set up and familiarize yourself with the application. TaskMaster is completely offline and works right out of the box without any account registration.

Installation

TaskMaster is available for Ubuntu, Fedora, and Windows. To install:

  • Ubuntu/Debian: Download the .deb package and double-click to install, or run sudo dpkg -i taskmaster.deb.
  • Fedora: Download the .rpm package and run sudo dnf install ./taskmaster.rpm.
  • Windows: Download the installer .exe and follow the setup wizard.

User Interface

The TaskMaster interface is designed to be clean and intuitive, divided into three main areas:

  • Sidebar: Contains your navigation (My Day, Important, Planned, Tasks) and your custom categories.
  • Dashboard: A high-level overview of your productivity, including charts and statistics.
  • Main View: Displays the tasks for the currently selected category or smart list.

Managing Tasks

Creating and managing tasks is quick and frictionless.

Adding a Task

Click the "+" Add Task button at the bottom of the main view or simply type in the quick-add input field at the top of any task list. Press Enter to instantly add it.

Task Details

Click on any task to open its details panel where you can:

  • Change the priority (Low, Medium, High)
  • Set a due date and time
  • Mark the task as Important by clicking the ☆ Star icon for quick access to your most critical tasks

Categories & Tags

Organize your work effectively using custom categories.

To create a new category, click "New Category" in the bottom left of the sidebar. You can assign a custom color to make it easily recognizable.

Theme

Customize TaskMaster to fit your workflow.

Dark Mode

TaskMaster comes with a beautiful dark mode that is easy on the eyes. Toggle it anytime by clicking the Sun/Moon icon in the top right corner.
